| BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON SIX OF ONE |

Six of One, established in 1977, is a non-commercial society. Officially recognised over the years by ITC, PolyGram, Carlton International Media Limited and now Granada Ventures, the society operates on a subscription basis. For many years Six of One has been given exemption from VAT and the material provided comprises mainly reading and printed matter. Six of One is administered by a small number of enthusiasts, working in their own free time, who effectively "manage" one or more of the facets of the society to enable it to function. There is no "head" of the society, all decisions are made by democratic means through members of a co-ordinating team. Team members are simply those who undertake a body of work on behalf of the society. The team has across the years always expanded or contracted to meet changing circumstances. The society therefore avoids formal or legal status, preferring a flexible system. Society members are encouraged to participate, if they wish to do so, at every level. There are a number of local group co-ordinators who organise meetings and social events for members within their own geographical area. There is a convention at Portmeirion, where the series was filmed, and other social events and location visits are organised from time-to-time. Membership of the society is by annual subscription and brings you quarterly mailings which include a quality professionally printed magazine each time plus other printed items. You can join online by credit card or by regular mail with a cheque, postal order or, in the USA, a 'convenience store' money order. A printable postal application form is available which gives fuller details of the latter method. You can join as an "individual" or include your partner in a "joint" membership. The latter option enables partners, family members, friends - living at the same address - to attend society events which are organised for members only. Your privacy is important to us. The information you provide will be used for membership purposes only, it will not be passed on to any third party nor will you receive commercial advertising. If you choose not to renew your membership at any time, your details will be subsequently removed from our records.
