| GUESTS FOR 2008 2008 and another successful convention by Six Of One. We were particularly delighted this year to bring together two esteemed actors, Jane Merrow and Earl Cameron, for the first time since they appeared in the mind bending episode 'The Schizoid Man'! To all who have worked with her and had the pleasure of watching her performances, Jane Merrow is a superb actress. Patrick McGoohan, well known for his perfectionism, gave her his ultimate tribute by asking her to be his leading lady a record four times.
Jane Merrow was interviewed on Saturday evening by Larry Hall and she regaled a full Hercules Hall with rememberances of her long and distinguished acting career both here in the UK and in America. She has worked in many plays, television series and films but members were, of course, particularly interested in hearing about her work with Patrick McGoohan on both "Danger Man" and "The Prisoner"Earl Cameron, interviewed by Dave Barrie, was also a delight. Earl is still appearing in films at the distinguished age of 90(check out his scene-stealing cameo at the beginning of "The Queen" with Helen Mirren). The 2008 convention was once again held in the place where The prisoner was filmed - Portmeirion in North Wales. We had a truly international attendance, with members flying in from Germany, France, the USA, Canada and even Australia. |
![]() Events included the traditional Election Parade re-enactment which now encompasses most of the "Free For All" episode. Also outdoors was the Human Chess game from "Checkmate which seems to become more bizzare every year. Hugely enjoyable. Rover invaded the board as is his wont, except that he was unlucky enough to impale himself on a bush and exploded before having the opportunity to ingest one of the Villagers. Fenella Fielding, the "Village Voice" opened the indoor events with a specially recorded introduction and there was a plethora of rare DVD material, live performances and interviews throughout the weekend. A full convention report will be available to Six Of One members later in the year and both the Jane Merrow and Earl Cameron interviews were recorded for future viewing by members unable to attend the convention. |
